Description

This is listing is for a scarce, 1940s vintage WWII Order Of Bath 5 badge (or Pip) necklace and a 2 badge accessory piece.  The necklace features 4 enameled brass emblems or badges, surrounding a central crown, that are attached to top and bottom chains which are then attached to single chains that hook together at the ends.   This sale also includes a pair of similar badges that are secured together by hooked chains.  Each emblem is a 4 pointed star and has the Latin words "Tria Juncta In Uno" which translates to "Three Joined In One".  This is the motto of the Order of Bath which represents the union of England, Ireland, and Scotland.  The center emblem is a Crown with a dark red velvet insert.  The velvet color does not show well in the photos.  The 4 other badges have a center emblem with 3 objects that appear to be acorns.  The triangular facets surrounding the central emblems are shiny and reflective.  Outstretched the necklace is about 16" long.  The emblems are each about 1" high and 1" wide.  The 2 connected emblems and chains is about 4" long.
Overall, without any attempt at cleaning, the necklace is in very nice vintage condition.  I have seen separate pips and bracelets very similar to this but the necklaces are very scarce.
HISTORY: WWII Order Of Bath Shoulder Or Cap Badge "Pip" has the slogan "Tria Juncta In Uno".   Originally founded as a military order of chivalry, the star (or pip) is worn as army officers' rank insignia.
