#2 FRENCH ANTIQUE DOLL DISPLAY GORGEOUS MERRY GO ROUND CAROUSEL TLC 23.5" TALL
I purchased this in France on one of my trips awhile ago and now unpacking more antiques and
this is one I am listing along with many other antiques.. This need TLC, its dusty, soiled, tears, rips, & tilted
Please read below... but still a lovely charming piece from the past...
Antique French Merry Go Round Carousel filled with cut out character figures in fabulous colors.
Each character is amazing in appearance and in vivid colors as shown.
This seems to be all hand made with thick cardboard & wood and cut out antique French figures
which were added on with glue... some being tattered/rips  due to age however
this entire French antique Merry Go Round remains charming in its own tattered way.
It's a delicately Merry Go Round when made with thick cardboard and thinner type wood.
However, the base is good thick wood when made.
It would need TLC with re-gluing on some of the characters and the upper tent area which
is fabric has been damaged and torn and soiled due to age as well
would need repairs as the upper fabric tent top is torn and looks to be hand sewn back on
however not in a professional way.. You could easily add another tent top using antique fabric
if you wish or leave in its charming way as shown.
This piece would be great if you have antique bisque dolls as each Airplane has a opening for a little figure
if you prefer..(my little figures does not come with this.. its there as a example)
. each thick hand made cardboard or thin wood airplane (which each are hand made from)
has a propeller at front center and a one missing and these are made of plastic...
Each section is detailed in its own delightful way.
Each airplane having a name as well as number.
The center upper interior has lovely  (made of wood & heavy cardboard)
half circles hand done in a colorful painting  & blue velvet antique fabric and placed within one
another to form this wonderful design.
The upper interior center is filled with colorful  paper figures
as well as the center tube like section shown.  I noticed one figure is missing on this Merry Go Round
Its wobbly at its base and will need to be secured perhaps with a few more nails.. and
it seems to be at a slant the entire piece due to age.. I think when one secures the base
and repairs the tent torn area it would make a big difference.. Its truly a Beautiful looking piece.
Roping holds the airplanes in place and some strings a base and one can swing the airplanes
with your hands as they are not permanently glued in anyway--you can swing them back and forth.
The base is wood and painted in antique paint.  Its a wonderful piece even with all its flaws
which can be easily mended if you have the time--or again if you prefer--leave it in its
own charming fantasy antique French way.
Again, this piece is tattered, soiled, stained, has tears, rips, weak, and needs some TLC..
Being sold as in and in as found condition.  I will pack it with time consuming care.
Measures:  approx: 23.5" Tall,  The wood base is 13" by 11.5".
The airplanes:  7.5" by 6 3/3" at largest.
Top Cloth is 22.5" across.
Figures: 4" Tall. Center Tube like Circumference having fabric and painted motifs 21" in circumference.
