This is a wonderful George V period English Sterling Silver Pepper Shaker.
Scottish Thistle form.
James Dixon & Sons.
Sheffield, 1930.
Realistically Modelled as a Three-Dimensional Scottish Thistle.
Excellent Quality.
It is marked on the side with English Solid Sterling Silver Hallmarks for Sheffield, 1930.
The Maker's Mark is that of James Dixon and Sons.
The lids has matching hallmarks (the lids are absolutely original and screw on perfectly).
Height
: 4 1/2 inches (about 11.75 cm).
Both lids screw on very tightly and securely. They will
not
fall off during use.
Both stand perfectly flat and straight on a table.
There are
no
monograms or initials whatsoever.
Good Thick Gauge Sterling Silver.
Weight
: 57
grams (1.84 troy oz).
The side solder lines are visible.
The base has two cut marks (unfortunately).
The inside has some minor tarnish and there is some very minor overall age-related wear from gentle use and handling (see photos).
It is in Otherwise Very Good
