BARR & STROUD CF25 BINOCULARS
Fleet Air Arm with spray shields
Decent cosmetic condition
Optical issue on left hand side
This is a pair of early Barr & Stroud Fleet Air Arm binoculars. They have retractable spray/splash/sun shields which can be extended or retracted by rotating the end collar. When these were in use, the British Navy was still flying Swordfish biplanes from the carriers. They had an open cockpit for the observer/navigator, so the spray shield was a needed accessory. These date to before 1944, but I am not sure when.
These are a smaller version of the CF41, made more compactly for carrying on the planes. They are less common than the CF41.
Technical specs: 7x42, Field of View 7.18 deg. = 127mm/1000m. Weight 1200 grams
CONDITION
Cosmetically they are in decent condition. No signs of damage, just wear and tear over the 80 or so years.

Mechanically both sides work, there is an image from each. I was able to focus the RHS as expected over a range including long distance. The LHS has an issue. I could not obtain good focus and the image is offset compared to the right side. The filters rotate and appear to select as expected.
