Vintage 2 3/8” X 1/2” Compass, Marked In The Metal 71, Maritime, Transit Lock

Vintage 2 3/8” X 1/2” Compass, Marked In The Metal 71, Used Maritime.
The only marks is a 7 and 1 in the edge metal. I cannot find a maker’s mark.
It has a metal transit lock to hold the needle in place, which works.
It does point North and South here. But not sure how accurate it is.
Date produced is unknown.
To the end of the ring, 2 3/8” x 1/2”.
Measurements are approximate.
Good condition. No chips or cracks. May need a slight cleaning. Might have scratches on the glass. Has missing finish. Needs polishing.
